Mog the Moogle grew up on Narshe and became the leader of the Moogles who lived in the caves and tunnels there. When the Returners came, Mog joined their forces to fight the evil Kefka. The Returners were successful in stopping the maniacal wizard, and in that campaign, Mog learned valuable skills such as his powerful dances and Esper-given magic spells. (For those of you who haven't played Final Fantasy 3, Espers are magical beings who can imbue their power into others.)
After the world-changing clash with Kefka, Mog returned to Narshe to live with his Moogle buddies. After years of hangin' out and partying with Umaro the Yeti, Narshe was buried by a huge snowstorm. There was food within the snow-covered caverns, so the Moogles lived on.
Centuries passed, and the war between the Alhaq Jihaz and the S.P.R.I.T.E. army reached the buried Narshe. Radioactive gas spread into the area, melting the snow. With his magical powers, Mog provided a shield for the other Moogles. The Alhaq Jihaz army wanted to destroy the bothersome Moogles, and they almost did. Mog sealed off the Moogle cavern from the attacks of the Alhaq Jihaz when he got fed up and decided on his current quest...
